How We Can Help
In Pennsylvania, The Department of Public Welfare recognizes Personal care homes as residential facilities serving the needs of those who require assistance with ADLs & IADLs. However, they do not directly provide skilled nursing or medical care.
Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
- Eating and Drinking
- Getting in/out of bed or wheelchair
- Personal hygiene care
- Toileting and incontinence need
- Securing and managing healthcare.
- Medicine administration (pills, lotions, drops, inhalers, or patches)
Independent activities of daily living (IADLs)
- Weekly laundry & housekeeping
- Transportation arrangements
- Use of assistive devices like canes, walkers, wheelchairs
- Scheduling appointments
- Clothing care and personal belongings
- Arranging home health services: therapy or nurse visits.
